Amur-Amur-Point’s participation in large-scale construction of GBS in the Far East, Sakhalin-1 Project.

Gravity-based structure

In winter 2009, construction of Gravity Based Structure (GBS) started in Nakhodka (Primorsky Kray). Further, GBS will be used for installation of oil and gas production platform to develop the Arkutun-Dagi field (north-east shelf of Sakhalin island) being a part of Sakhalin-1 Project. The construction of GBS is carried out in Vostochny Port, Nakhodka.

Exxon Neftegas Limited, affiliated company of ExxonMobil, is the operator of the project. General design and construction contractor for GBS is one of the biggest world engineering companies – Aker Solutions, Norway.

Gravity Substructure Base in Nakhodka is the largest GBS in Russia. The Project involves more than one thousand of diversified specialists in total. Most specialists can speak two languages (Russian and English); they are specialists who have already worked for the Russian Federation projects and have GBS experience at Sakhalin-2 Project (Platform PA-B and LUN-A).

Completion of the construction is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012. After that, the substructure base will be transported though the north part of the Japanese Sea between the islands of Hokkaido and Sakhalin. GBS will be towed to the dedicated installation site near the east coast of Sakhalin Island to the Arkutun-Dagi field.
